With great sadness, we announce the passing of William Groff on Thursday, August 19th at St. Mary's Hospital in his 94th year. Bill was a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Proud and loving father of Brian (Gabriella), Susan Dulmage (Marc), Sharon Burdett (Bruce) and Shelley Sheridan (Brad). Loving grandfather of Stephen (Brianne), Drew (Kathleen), Dean (Victoria), Jaclyn (Andrew), Jessica (Tim), Michael (Natalie), Jonathon, Scott (Courtney), Shawn, Stuart (Alex), Steven (Brittany) and Mitchell (Kelsi) and of 7 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Arthur (Sandra) and sister Betty Geddes. Predeceased by his parents, Howard and Florence Groff, his brother and wife Bob and Mary Groff and by his brother-in-law Jack Geddes.
Bill was President of Groff Plumbing and Heating and also President of Waterloo-Wellington Plumbers Assoc., the Canadian Plumbing and Heating Assoc. of Ontario and on the Executive of the Mechanical Contractors of Canada.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with his family and travelling, square dancing and cards with his wife and many friends. He treasured his time at Luther Village where he was an active participant in shuffleboard, bocce, puzzles and was on the Resident Advisory Board.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Papastergiou, Dr. Schaman and the many doctors, nurses and the Patient Experience Team at St. Mary's Hospital for their support and care.
As per Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 25th at 2 pm at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo. A livestream and recording of the service will be available on his tribute page on the funeral home website.
