Beloved wife and best friend of the late William Townshend (2002), passed away peacefully at Innisfree Hospice on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the age of 93 years.

 

Much loved mother of Wendy McIntyre; Lynne and Guy Zink; Bill and Lois Townshend; Susan and Gerry Remers; and Kathryn Townshend and Don Hood. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren David and Stephanie McIntyre; Karen McIntyre and Chris Laramie; Rebecca and Robert Menser; Emily and John Paul Pareta; Alexandra Townshend; Blaire Townshend; Tyson Remers and Katharine Zywert; Owen and Shannon Remers; and Elena Remers. Special great grandmother to August, William, Yggdrasil, Joseph, Alaya, Dayaa, Laiklyn, Olivia, Willow, John, Wyatt, Eliza, Morgan, David and Beckett.

 

Survived by her brother and sister-in-law Alex and Marie Colvin; and sisters-in-law Betty Foster, Barbara Ullerick, Peggy Utting, Pat Townshend and Nancy Lougheed. Betty was predeceased by her parents Alec and Edith Colvin; an infant son Robert Scott; infant granddaughter Laura Kathleen; sisters and brothers-in-law Eleanor and Harold Monture, John and Ruth Townshend, Robert Foster, Mary and Howard Friesen, Gordon Ullerick, James and Helen Townshend, and Robert Townshend.

 

Betty was a faithful member of All Saints Anglican Church and active for many years on the Chancel Guild and other church committees. She was a long-time member of Waterloo County Quilters’ Guild and Probus Club of Kitchener-Waterloo; founding member of Renison Town and Gown Society; dedicated volunteer at and support to W. T. Townshend School; and a good friend to many.

 

Betty was an intelligent, capable and creative woman who poured her considerable energy into everything she did. Betty and Bill had a true partnership in every aspect of their lives. Her family was so fortunate to have her love and support.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, to attend the visitation for Betty, personal face coverings are required and relatives and friends must register (RSVP) on Betty’s tribute page at www.erbgood.com or by calling the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A private family service will be by invitation only.  The funeral will be livestreamed at https://fb.me/e/YuSlaH1W on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11am. Cremation and interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
