John may have loved chocolate but there was something else he liked too... Henrys Fish. I always knew what day of the week it was when John and Rozie pulled in to the docks.
We are saddened by this loss, sending Rozie our deepest sympathy. The Bay won't be the same.

Rozie when I pass by your cottage, this is what I shall always remember:
John's helpful hand and watchful eye especially for the older folks on the bay, like Merilee and our Mom.
His inclusiveness in shepherding whoever wanted to go to Henri's on a Friday night or for an adventure in the open.
And the companionable dinners with you both. John ready at the grill.
John had a generosity of spirit and one couldn't have asked for a better island friend and neighbor. Our family will miss him.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Rachel Gille

Danny and I extend our heartfelt sympathy to you Rozie, at this time. Although we didn't know John well, I certainly had many great conversations with him at various family birthday parties over the years. We both fondly remember when you and John came to our farm in Delhi, so that I could teach you how to crochet that big blanket!
You both have been sooo good to Chris, Mer and family and we certainly appreciate it. '
May the Good Lord hold you in His arms and comfort you during this difficult time.
Best Regards,
Danny & Ann

To our island neighbors, John and Rozie, whose friendship is treasured, and generosity to our family immeasurable. One year, upon arriving to the cottage for the summer season, Mimi was surprised and delighted to see she had a new flagpole! Unbeknownst to us, John had cut and hauled a tree to the island over the winter for her. In his honor, the family is dedicating a small grove of trees to be planted in Ontario as a living tribute. Sending love and hugs to you Rozie! --Lorin and Tee

I'm not sure if anyone has influenced me more in my life besides my father than John has. John taught me so much over the past 30 plus years about business and life, I will miss him greatly.
He was the most honest giving person and I hope he is appreciated where he is now as he was when he was with all of us!

John will be sadly missed…from his infectious smile, words of advice, to his genuine care for everyone around him. We have many fond memories over the many years working with John. Along with the lasting impression he left on our boys while at the cottage fishing and him in the lake while they practiced their cannonballs. The world has truly lost a beautiful soul.
Rozie our thoughts and prayers are with you. xo

Where do I start with John…
Well, I worked together with him as an employee for some time before he became the owner of the business we worked at and then as my boss. I was immature as a man and fought some of the ideals he had as well as change.
I worked at Automotive Trade Supply for almost 19 years. I started there as a child (although I thought I knew everything!!) at 23 and left there at 42. In that time, unknowingly, I learned a lot about life, relationships and just being a good person. Besides my father, John taught me all that. He helped me emotionally through the death and grief of my losing my mother, because he had experienced that himself. I felt a true connection with him that he was able to speak to me and relate to what was happening in life. His words comforted me and gave me a place to be able to talk openly.
Being removed from ATS, I often reflect on the little things I learned from him. I learned respect, honour, hard work and many many more aspects of being a good person. All those things have taken with me to where I am today.
There are some people that you meet in your life that really influence and guide you in a direction that truly makes your world a better place; and makes you better for the people around you. John was one of those people for me. I didn't know it at the time but as I've reflected back and matured as a person, I truly see the influence he had on my life.
As I write this, tears are streaming down my face knowing that the world has lost an incredibly generous man. I cry for Rozie and I cry for all of us that will miss him dearly.
John Zuk, you will truly be missed. The world needs more of you…
