Obituary of Alfred Gerrit Molenaar

Alfred Molenaar at the age of 84 passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, Freeport Campus on January 29, 2022.  Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ellen (Reid), his son Gerrie (Julie) and grandsons, Brian and Nicolas, and sister Margaret Molenaar-Sirrs (Hugh). He was born in the Hague and came to Canada in the 1950s.  He has lived in Waterloo for 37 years.  Alfred worked at Manulife for over 30 years and thoroughly enjoyed retirement for 27 years after that.  He was an avid cyclist, tennis player, windsurfer, and a long-time member of a gym.  His real passion was his family; devoted father and loved spending time with his grandsons.  He was well loved for his optimism, humour, and enjoyed socializing with everyone.

Alfred’s family would like to thank all the caregivers and our friends for their concern and care. 

A celebration of life is planned at a later date.
