Though I did not know Dottie for as long as many others, I still had many fond memories of her visiting, and attempting to beat her in Scrabble. When I first moved to the GTA I had the chance to go on walks with her and learn all about growing up on the farm. I will always cherish those moments. Thinking of all the family & friends in this difficult time. Love Devon

As with all who knew her, there are too many fond memories to be captured in one post, and that is the strong legacy that my Grandma leaves behind. All of the summers in Muskoka were a highlight of my year, as was going on an adventure to Kitchener to visit her and Bumpy - especially when that meant also being able to see a play at the St. Jacob's Playhouse. Christmas time was always exciting to be able to bring together such a large family that brought my Grandma so much joy. It is always difficult to see someone you love experience health challenges towards the end of their life, but I know that she always held onto her most precious memories, as we all continue to do as well.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by all that knew her. We have so many fun memories from the cottage on the island where Dottie and Jack always welcomed myself, Gavin and John with open arms, boat rides and loads of food. It felt like John grew up there with Greg and Graham. Dancing, singing, laughing and drinking caesars on the dock. Cheers to Dottie!

I met Dorothy and Jack over 30 years ago at the Centre in the Square. They sat next to me and my husband while we attended the Pops Series. We always enjoyed the Pops especially when we knew that Jack and Dorothy were attending. Their stories of their travels, the cottage, their family, the dinner parties , the jokes, made our evening. Little did we know that we had so much in common...My brother-in-law Jim Walker farmed close to Grant and Bev outside of Guelph..what a small world. My sincere condolences. They will be greatly missed.

I have so many fond memories of Dorothy. The first time I met her was I think in Muskoka. It truly was her happy place. There couldn’t be a more welcoming and gracious host. This welcome was extended always, especially when I joined her family through my marriage to Gaye. It was so much fun watching her prepare to lead bus trips. We had many memorable Sunday dinners at her table. Christmas was much more exciting and fun with her and Jack’s love of that time of year. Rest In Peace Dorothy as we hold all of our wonderful memories of times past close in our hearts.

Dorothy came to live with us at a time in her life when she needed to have family close by. We spent many hours together at the Scrabble board. We were both highly competitive, with outcomes undecided until the very last rounds. We would commiserate lousy letters or celebrate bingo plays, but mostly we teased each other relentlessly when games extended late into the night, and often woke Judy up with our laughter.
Our evening walks through the woods progressed to rides around the block in her wheelchair, much to her delight. I would always attempt to glean a weather forecast from her. She would resist at first, claiming it was too cloudy or the sun was still too high in the sky, but after much cajoling she would relent. And wasn’t she always spot on! I ceased watching the Weather Network and relied exclusively on Dorothy’s forecasts.
Once when we were sitting in the backyard, she asked whether anyone trespassed our property. When I asked her where this came from, she recounted a time in her youth when travelers would come up to the farm and asked for food and drink. It was a small glimpse from her past a long time ago. The farm is long gone and Dorothy has moved on, but she left us with many fond memories.
