Bob peacefully left us on Sunday, May 1 at the age of 89. He was a loving husband for 69 years to Iva (Lucas) Mader. Proud father to Don (Linda, late Louise), Cheryl (late Jim), Doug (Connie), Rob and Valerie. Older brother to Reg (deceased), Rich and Jane Sherk. Poppy to 13 grandchildren and Great Poppy to 8.
Bob was a gifted athlete who excelled in many sports and games including hockey, baseball, golf, crokinole, and bowling. In 1962, he played for the Galt Terriors who won the Allen Cup and represented Canada at the World Championship where they won the silver medal.
Bob farmed and was a well-respected cattle broker and co-owner of B & M Livestock.
Bob was a fierce but fair competitor who taught his family the life lesson of earning a win. He had a quiet strength and was patient and kind to all. One of his great joys was hosting family gatherings where he presided over carving the turkey, barbequing the burgers, lighting the fireworks, building gingerbread houses and playing games. He made everyone feel welcome at the farm and it was a warm and loving environment for family and friends.
