Fran and the Ratchford Family - I was lucky to get to know Doug working alongside him at Quarry Integrated Communications for over a decade. I came to really appreciate Doug's candour, wit, and creativity. Being tasked with helping to teach him to use a computer wasn't the easiest assignment but we had many laughs along the way. I am blessed to have some of his prints hanging in our house and always marvelled at his creative talent. My condolences on your loss - we all miss him and the flair that he brought into the world. My deepest condolences to you all on the loss of Doug. I remember with great fondness Doug as a coach of both the “world renowned” Ratchford Raiders, Forest Hill T-Ball team in the mid-70s when I played with Shannon, and as a coach for flag football. He always had a smile on his face and a way with the kids on the team that made everyone feel special. He was inclusive and no one was ever left out, everyone taking their turn on the bench regardless of their skill…and we still won game after game after game…by huge margins! These tenets were ones that I took into adulthood and incorporated into my coaching for my kids and into my training as a police instructor. Doug left an indelible imprint!
