Andreina (Nena) Hermiston Ogilvie (nee Rodger), 90, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Nena was born on January 13, 1932 on the Swinkie Farm (near Dunino), Fife, Scotland. She went to school in St Andrews, and eventually became a dental hygienist in Dundee. She was married to David Seaton Whyte Ogilvie (deceased July 15, 2022) on October 10, 1953 in Dundee and they moved to Canada in 1956.

Nena and David lived in Port Credit, Stoney Creek, Hamilton and finally moved to Waterloo in 1966.

Nena was devoted to her husband David for 68 years. Loving mother to her three sons, Graeme (wife Deborah deceased), Brian and his wife Juanita, Bruce and his wife Sharon. Loved grandmother of Iain (Katherine), Geoffrey, Cameron (Sonya), Ashley, Megan, Erin, and great-grandmother of Braeden, William, Seaton, and Nika.

Nena was predeceased by her parents Thomas Rodger and Emily Elizabeth McDonald Rodger (Hermiston), brother Thomas Rodger, sisters Anne Turner (Rodger) and May Sturrock (Rodger).

Mrs. O, as she was known, will be remembered as a most kind and gentle person. She was always singing with a joy in her step.  She gave her life to the Lord and gave her time to serving others as a Sunday School teacher, through Vacation Bible Schools and Good News clubs, and as a volunteer for K-W Habilitation Services, Forest Heights Long Term Care Facility, Pine Haven Nursing Home and Central Park Lodge.  Nena lived with dementia for the past 18 years, and though unaware, continued to minister to others until the very end.

Appropriately, one of Nena’s last messages to everyone was “Rich in love. Strong in faith. I miss you all.”

The Ogilvie’s will receive family and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. A Celebration of Nena and David’s life and faith will be held at Trinity Church, 330 Conservation Drive, Waterloo, on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be life-streamed and a link will be available at www.erbgood.com. A reception at the church will follow.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Trinity Church or Emmanuel Bible College may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.

Heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. O’s second family on the Cherry Orchard and Walnut Grove floors, Trinity Care Centre.  Your devoted love and care for both David and Nena will always be remembered.  Special thanks to Andrea M., who loved them fiercely.
