Pat, Mike, Les, and Loop(Rick):
It was with great sadness that I heard that Gumby had passed away! I have many fond memories of being at the house during university with Loop. Gumby would be kidding with you one moment and then giving a piece of serious advice in the next sentence...the trick always was trying to figure out which was which!^) Usually you could tell if he smiled after he said it but he did have a great poker face!!^)
He always would give me anything I needed or wanted...or even insist I take something when I didn't want it!!^) He was persistent!! He always let me know that I was appreciated as one of his son's friends and treated me literally like his own son when I came over. Being away from home going to school, he always tried to make me feel at home in the house in Waterloo. He also extended this kindness and hospitality to my wife and kids when we visited in the post-university years. He always had a good story to tell and cooked a mean burger on the BBQ! We will miss Gumby!
May the Lord give you guys peace and comfort your hearts in these next days, months and years that follow his passing.
