I first met Michael when I was learning how to ride horses at the same barn he had his gelding Tippy. Tippy was actually the first horse I got to show and Michael was so excited when he heard we won a ribbon. He was so supportive of anyone he crossed paths with. After not seeing each other for some time, we crossed paths again in community theatre. Michael gave his all in every role. He looked at every angle and would ask questions I wouldn't even think of but it brought more to his character and helped him become that character. The theatre community will not be the same without you Michael!! Not only did horses and theatre bring us together but also a dog. I will never forget Michael calling one day and said Jess (I am a certified dog trainer) my daughter has a dog that I will be spending time with. I want to come for lessons, so I can develop a good relationship with this dog. This was Michael! He never cut corners. He was always wanting to jump in and help. He gave everything his all. I will never forget him and it is hard to imagine I won't get to see his smile again. Michael you touched my heart many times! Lots of love, Jess Croezen

Michael was a very special person who thoroughly enjoyed life. I knew him through community theatre and cannot imagine directing another show without Michael in the cast. He put his all into every character he was given. I was absolutely delighted when he came to me during Cabaret to tell me he had figured out that he could have a fully realized character without lines. I knew then that his theatre career was on a solid path. I often imagined that part of his success as a professor was his love of the dramatic. Condolences to hi family and friend. Our community is poorer for his loss.

i would like to send my condolences to Margaret, Alison, Wes and little Parker in this hard time. along with his many friends and colleagues, My uncle Michael was like a brother to me as well as a friend whom i could confide in. He was always smiling and cheerfull at all times. and in sixty plus years i dont recall him ever being angry or raising his voice at anyone. his hugs are legendary, and you could feel the love. He was always doing things that he loved right up until the end, I will never forget you, your nephew Michael.

The first time I met Mike he couldn’t say enough great things about his future son-in-law, Wes, who also told me how he enjoyed their numerous, interesting conversations.
Seeing Mike in one of his plays was fun - he seemed to be a natural for his part.
Mike will truly be missed by many but never forgotten. My deepest condolences to the family.

What an amazing person and what a remarkable life. I feel so lucky that I got to know him through his work as an examination proctor at Renison. He was such a great support to the Registrar's office and to our students. Keeping all of Michael's family and friends in my prayers this evening.

I first met Michael during a TCP show. We sympathized with each other's struggles to memorize dance steps. Watching him create his character was fun to watch, he always added more at every rehearsal. Michael had a Little Free Library and he would message every now and then offering books for my library. And in 2020 he got an ebike and we would trade stories of our ebike travels. He was a wonderful fellow and we will miss him greatly. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Rest in peace, Michael. The time I spent in your company was always uplifting, whether we were deep into exhausting dress rehearsals, drafting our fantasy football teams, or enjoying a summer barbecue hosted by the Jewinskis. I will be honoured if people remember me as fondly as we all remember you.

I am a member of Michael’s musical theatre fan club. I had the joy of sharing the stage with him a few times. He approached every play with glee, was always smiling and was immediately friends with everyone. While the hole he has left in the local musical theatre community is nothing to the hole he is leaving in your family, may it bring you comfort to know he made a positive impact on thousands of people. He was such a dear man. My sincere condolences to all who loved him.

I did theatre with Michael and played fantasy football with him for nearly twenty years. I can honestly say that he was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He seemed to delight in making people laugh and smile. I especially remember his portrayal as Mr Fezziwig in KWLT's Mrs Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge. It was such a silly role, but Michael brought a manic energy where every moment was bigger than the one before, but still grounded in Michael's ever-present smile.
