Deepest sympathy is extended to Tom, Lindsay & Anthony & their families as well as Barb's siblings, Liz, Kathy and Charles. Barb was a very caring, dedicated wife, mother, nurse, care giver who was always concerned about every ones well being and put every one else first. Her battle is over and she is no longer in pain, She's gone to heaven where she'll be with family and friends.
Her memories will live on forever in your hearts. She'll never be forgotten by all those whose life she touched in a very special way. Rest in Peace.

I knew Barb in her role as CCAC Discharge Co-ordinator at Freeport Health Centre. Barb was a very special person who was well respected and appreciated by colleagues, patients and their families. We worked together in many challenging situations and I was always impressed with her calm, thoughtful, capable and caring approach. Barb was tender-hearted with a quiet sense of humour and unshakable optimism. I will not forget her.
My sincere condolences to her family.

I have had the honor of working wiht Barb while she was in her role of discharge coordinator. Always compassionate and even tempered, she has helped so many patients navigate the frustrating, resource-poor world of discharge from the hospital. I too have gathered strength many times form her kind words and persistent approach to problems!
We have missed her so much when she retired, we will miss her more now, but never forget her smile and her warm presence!
Heartfelt condolences to her famuily; may the memories soothe your aching hearts!

My sincerest condolences to Barbs’ family as you grieve and cherish beautiful memories together.
I consider it a privilege to have had Barb as my mentor at Freeport CCAC years ago.
She was so wise patient, kind, practical and witty. She demonstrated her deep christian faith in the most humble and unassuming way in her relationship to patients, their families and team members she worked with.
She loved her family deeply and was so proud of her children.
I am so grateful to have had Barb in my life. She has left a remarkable legacy.

Barb was an amazing co worker and so proficient in everything she did. She always had such a positive, kind, patient and caring demeanor. I last saw Barb at her Retirement Party. I will always remember her in my heart and am so thankful to have had the opportunity of working with her through the CCAC (now HCCSS) at the Freeport Hospital sight one lovely summer in a very tiny office, barely room for 2 desks! God has welcomed her into His arms and given her full health once more. My prayers and thoughts to you her family and loved ones who will greatly miss her more than words/feelings can ever tell. Dear Tom & Family
I worked with Barb for many years at SMGH. She was an awesome Registered Nurse and an excellent Nurse Manager - she was very professional and cared about her patients and her staff. Her smile and kind words always made colleagues feel valued and appreciated. I cherish the times we spent together and laughed and cried! Barb was truly an exceptional friend and professional RN.
My sincere condolences.

Our sincere condolences to Tom, Lindsay, Anthony and your entire families. Years ago, when I met Barb while working in ICU at St. Mary’s, I admired her many talents and skills which she so generously shared. I often said she was the kindest human I have ever met…and after all these years, that statement remains true. I remember her delivering a food tray to a patient in bed E6…she carefully positioned him, rolled the head of his bed up, put the bedside table in place, and took the lid off his tray. One item…he said…’ew…green jello’ and her reply…’ aw…you’re not only handsome, you’re smart too’. Barb taught me so much…She was well respected for her knowledge, delivery of care, her compassion and her good common sense. Gail and I had a small hand in bringing Tom and Barb together…because when we see their character, they are one, and the same. We are honoured to have known Barb. Rest In Peace my friend.

Tom, Lindsay and Anthony, my condolences to you on this profound loss. Having worked with Barb at CCAC for years I was sad to hear of her illness and now her death. Perhaps my most memorable encounter with Barb was on a very busy Friday while working at Grand River Hospital preparing people to return to their homes. The work load that day felt insurmountable and the pager kept ringing with more people to get set up for discharge. Barb in a very calm voice said, "think of yourself as a deli counter, Lorrie; everyone takes a number". I have thought of that wisdom over the years when work becomes particularly busy. Only one small legacy among the many left by Barb.

My sincere condolences to Tom, Lindsay and Anthony and the rest of her family.

Barb was my preceptor when I was a student nurse at St. Mary's Hospital. She set the bar high for the kind of nurse I aspired to be. Barb was smart, kind, witty, calming, compassionate, and had a great sense of humour. She was respected and loved by everyone who was lucky enough to work with her. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My heartfelt sympathy to Barb's family. The "professional and personal compassion and care" that you mention that Barb received was well deserved. Many people were blessed with her care and compassion during her nursing career. I worked with Barb at St. Mary's and I don't ever recall seeing her without that beautiful smile. Barb, you let your light shine.
