I offer my condolences to the family of a marvelous man. I knew Ron through the Waterloo Math Contests and as the coordinating teacher of a 4th year History of Math course with Waterloo's extension course offerings. It was the most enjoyable course in my upgrading as a high school math teacher and I often think of it many years later.
Ron was a caring, inspiring and personal educator that I remember over many years. It was indeed my good fortune to have known Ron years ago when he had an influence on my life.

We were happy to be able to attend the celebration of life for your Dad on online as we were unable to be there in person to covey our condolences to you and the family. What a wonderful celebration of life and tribute to Ron’s awesome ability to share his love of mathematics and to encourage young people to pursue the study of mathematics. We have very fond memories of SLOTH get togethers, dinners, parties and symphony. Ron will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Please know that you and the family are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad and difficult time. Sincerely, John and Marg Vellinga

Sending our sincere sympathies in the passing of your dear father.
He was a wonderful man and dear friend to my parents for many years.
I have great childhood memories of Ron on many WATSKI skiing adventures.
We enjoyed catching up and sipping wine with him on trips back to Waterloo.
Thinking of you and your families as you celebrate your dad today.

Meeting Ron at KW Symphony or in the community was always a pleasure. He was always warm, one of those people who gave others energy. He had a big influence on our son Derek as a professor and driving force behind the mathematics competitions. He was a positive influence on so many people, as well as a strong community presence. The world is a better place because of Ron.

We have lost a very funny man who loved to make us laugh with his silly antics.
From the Chinese funeral for Pa Pere's old truck to his miss matched plaid pants and plaid jacket he wore to dinner and lets not forget the hockey stick he broke into 100 pieces and gave to Uncle Bob on his birthday with a bottle of glue. The box was labelled Hockey Stick Kit.

Ron Dunkley was an inspiration to me. We arrived in Waterloo in the same year, 1967, Mr. Dunkley as a Professor and I as a student, both in the Faculty of Mathematics. I felt an immediate kinship with Mr. Dunkley, both of us having grown up in Windsor. Coming from a background of teaching high school, he was an excellent professor. He treated students as individuals and supported us in our efforts to be successful in our studies. Ron and a number of his colleagues had a keen interest in fostering effective teaching practices in high school mathematics and was happy to support those of us who had chosen that path for ourselves. My time at Waterloo was enriched by his presence; my work as a high school mathematics teacher was shaped by his mentorship. Please accept my condolences on your loss and my gratitude for having had Mr. Dunkley in my educational life.

Michelle, Suzi and family,
I am very sorry for your loss. Your dad was a remarkable person and he left the world a better place than he found it. He lived a life we should all emulate. I know he will be missed tremendously. My thoughts are with you.
