May 11, 1959 to February 24, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Laura Gail Archibald on Friday February 24, 2023 in Kitchener, Ontario. Laura died surrounded by her family and the voices of the people she loved dearly. Leaving behind loving husband, biggest supporter, and best friend Mike for more than 40 years. Devoted mother to Tara (Jeff), Lee (Akzhana) and Mac (Hassan). Loving Nana to Stella and Rosie. Sister to Terry, Nancy, and Al. She was a niece and cousin to many who she loved dearly. An aunt to countless nieces and nephews who she loved like her own children. Laura is predeceased by her parents Laurence Folliott (2016) and Beverly Adams (2019) and her brother Peter Folliott (2019).

Laura never thought that one job was enough so she tried them all; a talented filmmaker and screenwriter, with many films including the documentary Greenwich Village: Music that Defined a Generation, which premiered at the Grand River Film Festival; an educator; an entrepreneur; and her favourite job of all, being a Nana.

Laura loved keeping busy around the community by walking with her best buddies, trivia nights, biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and challenging friends to beat her in a game of Pickleball. If she wasn’t busy at home planning her next backyard project, she would be keeping busy travelling around the world with her best friend and husband Mike or attending countless film festivals with whichever friend or family member she could snag an extra ticket for.

Laura’s family would like to give a special thanks to the caring staff in the Grand River Hospital 6th floor, ICU, and Cancer Centre.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home. The celebration will continue afterward at a different venue Saturday, March 4 from 3-5pm for all of Laura’s friends and family. Please inquire with a family member for location details. Private family interment will take place in the spring.

Condolences for the family and donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation - Cancer Centre may be arranged at www.erbgood.com.
