Obituary of Shirley Weiler

WEILER, Shirley Louise (Dotzert), age 78, died peacefully at Lanark Heights Long Term Care facility on April 3, 2023. 

Beloved wife of the late Herbert Weiler (2019). Survived by her sons Greg (Soon-boon) and Jarrett, sister Linda Perlikos (Panyotis), nephews Fotis and Petros, and grandchildren Laura and Lindsay. 

Predeceased by her parents Woodrow Dotzert and Kathleen (Yendt), as well as stepmother Florence Kieswetter (Voll).

Born May 27, 1944 Shirley never accepted limitations and personified grit, determination, and compassion. Shirley volunteered her time and skills as long as she was able to help others through her church, Knights of Columbus, HopeSpring, and other community organizations. Shirley participated in research at WLU aimed at slowing the progression of Parkinson’s disease through exercise and was profiled in Maclean’s. 

Special thanks to the staff at Lanark Heights for taking good care of Shirley during her time there. 

At Shirley’s request, cremation and a private family burial will take place.
