Palmer was my teacher when I was an undergraduate at Waterloo and my colleague when I taught there. As a teacher, he deeply influenced me and made me think about history and issues in new ways. As a colleague, he was committed to his discipline, his students, and making the department a better place to work and teach. Truly a wonderful human being.
