My sincere condolences. I lost my husband recently and know how difficult a time this is for you and the family. John and I had the pleasure of playing with Leo at Rebel Creek. He was the first person to give me a big bear hug at my return this spring after my loss. John and I also had the pleasure of seeing him in cape Breton when our paths crossed while we were on holiday. We fit in a wonderful day of golf. Hopefully they are now enjoying a round in heaven. Thinking of you and the family.

The first time I golfed with Leo, we got paired as a group for a member event at Rebel Creek and had an unforgettable day, chatting, Leo telling stories, making jokes about the ferocious wind that day and how "this is a calm day back home." It wasn't for a few months after that before I saw him again, and I wasn't sure whether he'd remember me, after all, it was only a single round of golf, but he came over with a massive smile and said "CHRIS! Good to see you buddy!" And that to me was Leo. Every time we saw each other, he greeted you with a smile of friendship, a handshake and a good story.
The last time I saw him, was exactly the same, a shout of my name, a handshake and a little joke before he went off to what I'm sure what another great round of golf. I will miss seeing him around the golf course, hearing his stories and I know everybody who met him will feel the same. I feel privileged to have known him, and I wish my deepest condolences to his family.

Although I've only known Leo for a few years, but the times that we golfed together were pure enjoyment. He was such an uplifting positive person that exuded laughter, wit, compassion and genuine love for the game and the people around him. I thoroughly enjoyed his stories of the past and will miss the very interesting discussions going forward. They just don't come any finer than you, my friend. Jim Corbett

Leo, my friend, my brother, how I am going to miss you. For the past 10 years we have spent so much time together that I now have a great big hole in my life. We played so many games together at Rebel, indoors at Golf Without Limits and other courses in the area. Our golf trips were magical. But more than golf I will miss the friendship. Our discussion on the problems of the world and the country and of course our solutions.. Our meeting new friends and over the past couple of years losing some of those friends.
I feel like I will miss your whole family. You talked about all of them so much that I feel like I know them so very well. The very dear Iris who you loved so much. The exploits, adventures and accomplishments of Brian, Erin, and Barry. The pride you had in your grandchildren from being called to the bar, married in Europe, winning chess championships at high school and graduating elementary school. But while you were so proud of them you always asked about Muriel, my children and grandchildren. You were truly interested in people.
We truly enjoyed the time we spent on the golf course, playing matches against each other, as a team against others, and tournaments at various courses in the area. I know you loved playing, but it was also special for you when you were able to put money in your pocket at the end of the game. Our matches against Ken and Pasquale were always great times but made more fun when we beat them.
Our small group that played together the most, you, me, Bob, Larry and until recently Abdi became more like family than friends over the past few years. And of course, as with any family there was always a little bit of rivalry, and we knew how to get under each other’s skin once in a while.
I feel so very privileged to have been with you at the end. To enjoy your last games of golf and watch while you enjoyed a final dinner and entertained us all. The next morning was so very painful but I had Bob there to help me and the assurance that you had left this world on your terms.
You showed us how to live and you showed us how to leave. Very few people have lived lives to the very fullest as you certainly did. I will spend the rest of my days missing you and trying to “Make you Proud”.
Until we meet again, rest peacefully my dear friend.

Member's and Staff alike will all deeply cherish the moments with have shared with Leo at Rebel Creek. There are not nearly enough words to describe the impact Leo had on all that he came into contact with, especially those who had the honour of interacting with him daily around the clubhouse, and playing a round with him. Leo's presence radiated through the golf course each time he played, as his cheerful voice and smile could turn around any bad day you were having.
We wish the utmost peace, comfort, courage, and love during this time of sorrow to Leo's family.
The smiles, laughs, endless stories, hugs, and of course oatmeal raisin cookies shared with Leo will never be forgotten.
With love,
The Rebel Creek Pro Shop Staff
Rachel, Nick, Liam, Julia, Curtis, Christian, Mitch, and Johnny
