So sorry to hear about the passing away of Jake. We listened to the funeral on line and were so blessed to see how Jesus Christ was honoured in the service and most certainly in the life of Jake. May the Lord pour His healing grace into your hearts in this time of loss. Love Gerald and Margaret

My condolences to the Roorda family on the passing of Jake. I have had the pleasure of knowing Jake for many years and always appreciated the knowledge and guidance he has provided myself and our company over those years.
It was always a nice surprise when Jake came to our plant. Jake always had something to talk about, whether I caught any fish, why I didn't buy a bigger trailer for my grandkids (that I didn't have ), what new hockey cards he picked up, what his family was all up to. Jake always brought a smile to my day.
I am saddened by this news and again wish you my deepest sympathy.
May the memories you share help you through this difficult time

Dear Sally and the Roorda Clan,
My deepest condolences on the loss of Jake, beloved husband, son, father, Pake, brother, uncle. I have no doubt his absence from you will leave a big hole in your lives. He was all these identities to you, and yet the most significant is as a precious child of God, now warmly welcomed into His Father's presence. May the legacy of his love and faithfulness fill your hearts, and keep your faces turned towards the hope we have in Christ, even as we all mourn.
When I was young I thought Jake was such a cool older cousin. A little crazy too- who can forget Evil Knievel? I will always remember his warmth, humour, and the twinkle in his eyes.
Much love, Caroline Kralt (Van Raamsdonk) cousin

Uncle Frank, Aunt Jane, Rob, Anita, Mark, Darren, and the rest of the Roorda clan,
My prayers are with your entire family.
I cherish the memories of watching Jake play church hockey, and of meeting together for Parent / Teacher conferences at Woodland.
No matter how long it had been since we had seen each other, Jake would always find the time to say hi.
I will be thinking of you all during the service - I'll try to watch online but am unable to make it back to Canada at this time.
Love,
Steve Bootsma.

Frank, Jane, Sally, Rob, Anita, Mike & Daren:
First you have my condolences on the passing of Jake. We sit here with happy tears in our eyes, in that there is now an empty place at the family table, but he is also now with Jesus in heaven.
I remember our days in Oshawa. Jake was always the happy one, and a great pleasure to be with. He also did some very memorable things, such as trying to imitate Evil Knevel with his bicycle jump over a creek. That did not go so well, but it did get Jake a lot of attention, right on the front page of the Toronto Star. Jake was always a great friend. He would give you the shirt of his back if he thought you needed it more then he did. When you moved to Kingston we morned the loss of a friend, but we could still keep in touch through the youth services the were held every month. Then there was the move to Kitchener. I regret that I completely lost touch with Jake.
Over the years I have thought of Jake a lot. For some reason I would meet someone and Jake's name would come up. Two people that come to mind immediately is Sharon Postman a cousin to my wife, the other being Darren. I regret that we did not work harder to maintain the relationships with our old friends.
Soon, I too will be with Jesus and hope to meet my old friend again.

Dear Sally and all,
We remember Jake as a loving husband, father and Pake.
We think of him coming to the children's birthday parties and slinging the kids over his back and them enjoying it so much. We remember he brought candy each time.
We also remember his commitment to God. We know he is with Jesus and in that we have our hope.
We wonder what he is seeing now...and we know we will meet again some day.
With love and prayers. Dave and Debbie Dyment

I would like to share a memory of Jake.
The year is 1991. I am 5 years old, and it is a Sunday morning. The church service is over and the congregation has headed downstairs in the old ottawa st crc in kitchener. Kids weren't allowed back upstairs in the sancutuary afterward, and we all knew it.
Well me and my accomplice Zach Schiedel thought we would sneak back upstairs, of course. And Jake must have seen us. He came upstairs and we tried hiding under a pew. He ended up grabbing us each by one ear as was tradition in those times and back down the stairs we went. I had obviously seen Jake before, but as a little child didnt really know him too well. He said, "Im taking you guys to your dads!"
And I quipped, "You don't know who my dad is!"
Well!
He turned to me with big incredulous eyes and said, "oh i certainly know who your dad is!"
Turns out he did know.
God bless you Roorda family. I'll see Jake "upstairs" in the sanctuary one day again.
Love Chris Postma
