Obituary of Jacob Frank Roorda

Jacob Frank Roorda, a child of God indebted to Christ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the age of 64.

Born in Oshawa, Ontario, in 1958, Jake lived in Kitchener for most of his life. He took great pleasure in reading his Bible and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the great outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, and sitting by his pond. Jacob was proud of his Frisian heritage, enjoyed fine woodworking, sharing his faith, and getting to know people during his many years working in sales. Jacob’s joy was humbly serving the Lord in all that he did, walking with God on bended knee of heart. 

Jacob will be deeply missed by his wife Sally, with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage. His memory will be cherished by his children Cheryl and Reuben Jonker, Rachel and Nathan Duimering, Steven and Sarah Roorda, and Jessica and Michael Dyment. He was the beloved Pake to John, Abigail, Gideon, Judah David (d.), Roland, Marissa, Otis, Abel Rose, Emily, Christina, Aurora, Dilah Rye, Dylan, Francis, and Norah. Jacob will be lovingly remembered by his parents Frank and Jane Roorda and his parents-in-law Leo and Jane Veenstra, as well as his siblings, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, August 7^th at  Riverside Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 334 Preston Parkway, Cambridge from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm. A private interment will take place at St. George Cemetery. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 8^th at Providence Free Reformed Church, 269 St George Road, St. George at 1pm.
