Doug passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary’s hospital on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the age of 78 years.
Predeceased by his beloved parents Harry and Ann (Scheffner).
Loving Father (Popper’s) to Andrew Brenner (Jessica), Kevin Brenner (predeceased at the age of 21 on Friday April 7th, 1995) and Donna Gilbert (Shawn).
Dearest Grandpa to Julia, Sophia, Lydia, Andrew and special Grand Popper’s to Zoe (Gilbert).
Fondly remembered by his close sweetheart, Noreen Knight of 18 years.
Dearly loved and missed by lifelong friends Ken & Sheila Bechner and Bill Sword & Katie Kutza.
Doug worked at Uniroyal Goodrich from the age of 16 and retired 36 years later. “Born to Fish, Forced to Work” - Doug was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on the water at various lakes in Ontario, as well as deep sea fishing in the Caribbean.
Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Cremation will have taken place and a graveside service at Mount Hope Cemetery will follow the visitation, friends and family are welcome.
