My fondest memories of Denis revolved around our incredibly competitive basketball team. Our capacity to quench our thirst at the Edelweiss Tavern after our games at Conestoga College and our ridiculous lack of a need for sleep, as we more often than not, closed the place down, never faltered. Amazingly, we still showed up for work the following day. Paralleling this were our frequent team get-togethers with our better halves at Marbles Restaurant. It was always the same format: lots of good food, more wobbly pops, and above all, lots of friendly banter. Sometimes we thought that Denis opened the restaurant just to maintain team morale. I must say that it seemed to work; the team was quite successful over the years on and off the court. Those were the days!
Denis was a part of such wonderful memories. He was such an interesting person; one who followed his dreams and saw them through—a great example for living a fulfilling life. Our sympathy to his family for your great loss!
