I met Rudy while visiting Florida. We became friends immediately and enjoyed playing tennis together on Siesta Key. My wife and I also enjoyed going out to dinner with Rudy and his close friend Edith. The past two years we didn't go to Florida but Rudy and Edith stopped and spent the night at our house in Cincinnati on their way to Florida. I learned through our time spent together what a good friend he was and I'll miss our chats.

Dave and I will miss Rudy's smile and eternal optimism. He brought a lot of happiness to others. He was an amazing caregiver to Beryl. He was a great father to Allan and Lynn and a great grandfather too. We will miss our regular family luncheons. The connections and sharing of family memories is an awesome tradition. Rudy recently planned to join our zoom call to share some of the historical memories of our family background. Unfortunately, time ran out.
We thank Rudy and his friend Edith in visiting the family farm and our home in Ancaster. Rudy also made a special trip for my brother Edgar to enjoy his vintage corvette. Edgar was so very happy and appreciative. Rudy was special.
Rudy continued his athletic pursuits despite his chronic disease and physical restrictions. The support group had difficulty understanding how he managed to play tennis ( until recently.) Rudy's friends and family gave him strength, joy and determination. We honour his memory and kind heart. We send our love to Allan, Lynn and their families. May they hold tight to all those fond memories. Erika (distant cousin) and Dave McMullen

On behalf of the members of the Waterloo Tennis Club, I would like to offer our collective condolences and sincere sympathies to Rudy's family. Rudy's contributions to the club cannot be properly told here. Still, I came to know and appreciate his qualities while working closely with him over the last 12 years on two projects that were especially dear to him. He showed great determination, perseverance and loyalty to whatever cause he was involved, generous with his time and spirit, willing to go the extra mile(s) literally in many instances, charming, warm and always ready to engage in friendly banter. In a nutshell, he was an easy person to get along with. Though no longer with us, the results of his volunteer contributions will continue to benefit the club's current and future members - the sprinkler system that waters the courts, and the introduction of the senior competitive league, not just at WTC but now at five other clubs covering south western Ontario. He was one of the pioneers. He served as our team captain for the first eight years passing the baton over to yours truly after last year when he no longer had the energy to continue for another year. Thank you Rudy, for everything. May you rest in eternal peace.

Rudy was a great neighbour and friend. We will always remember how welcoming he was when we moved next door to the Gatzke family. We send our heartfelt condolences to Allan, Lynne and their families.

Condolences to Rudy's family and loved ones. My husband and I had the honour of getting to know Rudy over the last few years and greatly admired his kindness, his patience, his ceaseless optimism, curiosity and interest in others, and absolute zest for life. Rudy was an inspiration on how to live life well.

Rudy and Beryl have been great friends of Paul and I for many years. We are so sad to hear of his death especially because within the last few weeks, I had talked to Rudy and we spoke of getting together. Our love and prayers to Allen and Lynn and their families.
