Deborah was born March 24, 1944, to Ida White and Louis Ruch in Moncton, NB, and passed away peacefully in her 81st year with her daughter Libby and husband Allan by her side.
She is survived by her loving husband Allan and much-loved daughter Libby (Jeff) and granddaughter Tayla. She will be missed by her brother Murray, her nieces Christie and Cheryl, and her nephew Nick. She is predeceased by her sister Kathleen, and sister-in-law Ann Vidoni (Dominic), and parents-in-law Ida and Carl Asmussen.
In 1965, Deborah married her husband Allan, and this was the start of many happy and successful years together. In 1968, they founded a donut shop business called Donut Queen, with the first location in Belmont Village. The business grew to four locations in Kitchener and Waterloo. Deborah was known by many as the Donut Queen.
After 28 great years, the business was sold and they retired. She appreciated the support that the community gave her donut business. Deborah enjoyed curling and membership at Westmount Golf & Country Club for over 50 years. Deborah and Allan enjoyed winters at their condo in Fort Lauderdale for over 30 years.
Deborah enjoyed cars and purchased a new 1980 Excalibur convertible and has owned it for over 40 years. Deborah and Allan enjoyed their home in Colonial Acres for over 50 years. She enjoyed her membership in Beta Sigma Phi for over 60 years and the many good friends she made.
Visitation will take place at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. All are invited to a reception in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room immediately following the service.
