For the Heck Family I am so sorry for the loss of your daughters this year. I met Wendy at Camp Huronda in the 1980's. I attended her wedding and have met Cameron several times. We both became teachers and often chatted through Messenger about the ups and downs of our careers and our health. I will miss our conversations, her humour and her kind heart. Sending your family love and prayers. Jodee Monkhouse

My deepest condolences to the family.
I am so sad to hear of Wendy's passing. The picture here embodies her spirit perfectly.
Wendy was my Grade 7 teacher at Laruentian and at the time, she was Mrs. Dyck.
There are many things I remember about her.
She often spoke fondly about her son, who was very young at the time. He was the light of her life.
Her classroom was COVERED in smiley faces. Like, they were everywhere. There were too many to count. Sometimes my classmates said they would try to count them during the day, but would always lose track.
I remember Mrs. Dyck used to pull into the parking lot BLASTING Eminem. She also loved him.
She was VERY competitive. Any time there was any sort of competition between classes at the school, her class HAD to win. I remember one time there was a food drive and to make sure we won, she went out and bought a large pack of Ramen or something like that. Then she opened it because each individual package counted toward our total. And yes, we did win that year.
And this last one is random, but whenever she was going through the class list, like for attendance or to dismiss us, she would also say my name like a chicken, BUCK-A.

Ron, Becky and family, I had the pleasure of working with Wendy for many years at Laurentian School. There was never a dull moment in her classroom. Her professionalism along with her sense of humour kept the students (and myself) engaged and entertained. After her departure from the school board, we would meet regularly to share dinners, stories and of course lots and lots of laughter.
I am so saddened by Wendy's passing and the void it will leave in the lives of her friends and family.
She was one of a kind...a kind heart, a keen sense of humour and a love of life!
The picture in her obituary is truly the Wendy I will always remember.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Knechtel

The Kingsley family is very saddened to see such a kind and funny soul leave us so soon. I'll never forget helping Wendy change her car tire when we were neighbours. All we did was talk and laugh and share stories, especially about a certain Facebook group we were active in. Rest in Peace Wendy, and our sympathies go out to your family.
