I will always remember the compassion and quiet wisdom of one of my most favourite aunties - Aunty Pat as she was known to us. She was always our “go to YouTube” in the days before we had ever heard of YouTube. She proffered advice on all sorts of subjects when asked- how to store bananas in the fridge, the best way to put a duvet cover on a quilt, advice on dietary nutrition and how to translate the infuriating US baking term of “cups” into plain English of ounces/grams.
She was an absolute saint when family crises cropped up. Her measured advice delivered in calm tones never failed to defuse a potentially difficult position.
She had no right to have been forced to suffer the illnesses that beset her in later life. However, she never complained and faced each new hurdle with stoicism.
Both she and Uncle Govi were so knowledgeable about western classical music and gave me lists of new composers to listen to. They introduced myself and my first husband, Robert, to the fantastic John Field. Nowadays Roger ( my second husband) and I still have great pleasure listening to his works. I will dedicate in my mind Mahler’s Titan Symphony ( Number 1) to Aunty Pat as one of the last things she told me was how she was wowed by it when she first heard it.
She will certainly be sorely missed by all who ever knew her. I will miss her too and wish her peace and happiness in her final journey.
From her niece, Sheila Iyer-Hilditch

Eversince I got the news of Dr.Radha's demise, fond memories about her are flooding in my mind.Though she was my mother's sister, she was like our own sister, as the age difference was small. She was lovingly called "Pattu" in the family.Pattu in our language means silk.Yes, her very nature was smooth and gentle like silk. She was one of the most intelligent persons in our family. She clearly remembered the date of birth of all kith & kin in the family and never failed to wish them on that day.One can go on describing her virtues..Dear Pattu, rest in peace with your beloved husband Govi

Dr. Radha, Pattu for us, although my mom's younger sister, was a close friend to me. Older to me by 3+ years, we went to the same school for 2 years. Significantly golden period of my life, when I learnt a lot of things from her and our common friends, I shall always cherish those teenage memories. We shared so many jokes which we used to remember and rewind. Dear friend, wherever you are be at peace.

Our sincere condolences to you,Bobby,Shefali,Linus and Hazel. We will miss Radha as well as your dad.
Radha was a great friend and we connected as Soccer moms in 1984,when we first moved to London.Over the years, she offered advice on many topics, when requested, particularly in cooking .She was very kind after our daughter passed away and would send simple" thinking of you"cards to support us.
We stayed connected through phone calls/emails and even snail mail.I was able to tell her that she was loved at the end ,when she was in hospice, although she was unable to respond.
She will always be loved and a part of our community's shared memories.
With love,The Venkatesan family

Radha as we called her affectionately was a sister and well wisher. She was always there for us. Will never forget our visits and the delicious meals she cooked for us. She remembered not only our birthdays but of our children as well and wished them. With her and Raj gone a part of us is gone as well. But our fond memories will sustain us in our loss.
Heartfelt condolences to Bobby, Shefali, Hazel and Lanius. We will always be there for them.

Aunty Pattu (or Dr Radha as many know her) is the fun and fantastic aunty everyone would wish for. The youngest sister of my Mum and being 10 years older than Bobby, I guess I knew her for a long time. She has always been someone I could talk to and share anything. An amazingly bright person, a great listener, tonnes of empathy, but what I will remember most is her sense of adventure and humour. In 1985 she went on her own on a scientific exchange to Potsdam in the DDR (the now defunct Deutchland "Demokratisk" Republic) and was totally unfazed by the brutal Stasi, just the lack of good food.I was so inspired that I also went to Potsdam that year (albeit without a Visa...and she was right...the food was revolting). She loved Monty Python and had kind but awesome wit, and always called our favourite fast-food restaurant "Uberduckoos" (where I am in fact sitting to write this tribute). And she never got angry whatever I did even when I stayed with them for weeks on end. Even (by accident..) when he I dropped her baby son.. Aunty Pattu, you are amazing and wherever you are now I hope you and Uncle Govi are smiling, watching Monty Python and cooking inventive dishes, and arguing about some aspect of physics I could never dream of understanding! Love Nigel
