My Nanny and Hoppy made my childhood great. Through all the bad days and all the times I felt alone they, just like my mom and dad, were always there. They were both truly a second set of parents to me and even after all these years, I find myself missing so many parts of them.
My Nanny was a brave and ferocious woman. She was determined in all that she did and she was confident in her decisions. She was colourful and bright. She worried about everyone and everything because it was just who she was. She was a funny woman with a scary serious side. She was also a generous woman with a heart of gold and I am so proud to have been lucky enough to be raised in part by her and Hoppy.
Nanny, you changed my life when you left. Never had I ever imagined I would feel such a soul shattering weight upon my heart the way I did. I always knew someday you would move on to that next chapter, but I never knew how it would truly feel. I've been lost more days than not after you left, but yet you still fuel a fire in me to be more, to do more and to make more. You were both a creative light in my life and a solid force to be reckoned with. I see so much of you in my own mother and I too hope I can be more like you both someday.
You and Hoppy brought so much light to this world, and I know I'm not alone when I say everything got a little darker when you both left. You were never one without the other and I too aspire to live and love the way you both did.
If only time were kinder to pure souls, I may have had you both for some time longer. I truly hope both you and Hoppy are somewhere you always wished to be. Until we someday meet again, I love you with my whole heart.
your granddaughter,
Melissa

You were the bravest, most beautiful woman alive Nanny. I know you're going to keep doing good things for everyone, both down here and up there. You left a great legacy for everyone...something where we can look and feel blessed that you were in our lives. You're an angel now, keeping an eye on all of us. I'll never forget your amazing laugh and you and Hoppy's hilarious chats. Or when you came camping with us and swam with us, and hearing you say you Love us... I love you and I'll miss you forever.
