Obituary of Eugene Herringer
Eugene passed away suddenly, at Grand River Hospital, Sunday October 30, at age 95.
He is forever loved and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Doris (Howes)
The youngest of 4 children of Jacob Herringer and Matilda Hergott, he was born and raised in Waterloo.
He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses; Jerome (Clairbel Schmuck), Clara (Gordon) Mulholland and Priscilla (Arthur) Burbach.
He is remembered fondly by his nephews and nieces, his great nephews and nieces, and his great, great, nephews and nieces. The Herringer legacy lives on in all.
His very special extended family group, Judy Pfeffer Penner and her family, Mike and Gail Hiscott, and Doris's nieces and nephews and their families are all left with memories of happy times with him. Those special family dinners with Ed and Sue Herringer and their family won't be the same without him.
Eugene or "Yutch" ,(his unique nickname) following in his father's footsteps, worked in the furniture finishing business all his life. After formally retiring from Electrohome, he started his own successful furniture finishing business which he ran until he was 80. Over the years, he and Doris traveled extensively and had many wonderful adventures. In his 90's, he could be found building birdhouses and placing them in strategic locations in Kitchener Waterloo.
There will be no evening visitation. Morning Prayers will be offered at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo on Thursday November 3, 2011 at 9:15am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mary's RC Church, 56 Duke St. W., Kitchener, with Rev. George Nowak C.R. as Celebrant. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.
