Aunt Rhoda and Family: On behalf of Dad, Belinda, Claude, Rose, Eric and their families, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy for the loss of a Brother and Uncle. During my adult years, as a result of our many visits to your home and the week you spent with us in Gander, I've gotten to know Uncle Lester. I'd become proud to call him my Uncle. Whenever I'd mention his name to those who would have remembered him from his years of growing up in Middle Brook, the general remarks would seem to always mention him in the highest regard, calling Uncle Lester one of the smartest men to have gone to school there. Dad was always proud and would often become emotional when talking about his older brother signing up to go overseas to fight in World War II. I always admired Uncle Lester's ability to do beautiful stained glass work and hold a special attachment to the Prairie Lamp he made for us at the age of 86. Uncle Lester will always be fondly remembered. We will miss him. Love Walt and Ginny

Hedley Gill posted a condolence

To Lester Gill 1918-2012 It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter tonight. You are my brother but I knew very little of you. I was only 7 years old when you went teaching. Summer time you were only home for a short time. You were teaching for four years. You went overseas when the war broke out for 5 years 4 months. When you came home you went to University in St. John's, then on to Montreal, and finally to Ontario for the rest of your life. I often wished we could have spent more time together, but it was not to be. Maybe some day I am looking to meet you on that golden shore and be together for evermore. I love you. Your Brother Hedley Age 83
