Mary and I worked together at the Information Centre from 1982-1985. She was truly a mentor to me. From her cheerful disposition, impeccable dress, to handling clients and getting the job done right; she taught me a lot. All of that has translated into the way I conduct myself on the job today. I've become the "go-to person" in the workplace...and it's all because of Mary instilling the need to always find the answer and always find a solution. The Information Centre was a busy place, answering thousands of inquires, but we had fun too.
I have to leave you with one "Mary Story". When I arrived at work one day, she promptly told me to get back into my car and drive up to her neighbour's and get the geraniums out of his garbage! I was mortified, but did as she asked. When I got back she told me to store them somewhere in my basement. In the spring, she showed me how to clip them and plant them and produce a lovely crop of geraniums for pennies of the cost of buying new. I kept those geraniums going for years.
I'll miss you Mary and think of you often,
