Obituary of Aleksandra Meissner
Born November 22, 1922 (22/11/22) a heroine of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, lover of birds, animals, flowers and things beautiful, avid gardener, gifted with song and the ability to harmonize with any melody, she was gentle yet fierce, courageous, honest, unpretentious, non-materialistic, inquisitive, free spirited, adventurous and quietly proud.
Having lost her beloved Poland to the Soviet occupation, she settled in Canada with her young family. She survived two of her children, Małgosia and Zbyszek. Oleńka, as she was known by those who loved her, passed away in Cambridge, Ontario on June 29 at the age of 89. She is missed by her spouse of 66 years, Stefan, her children Jan (wife Urszula), Piotr, Julek (wife Kate) and Ludwik (wife Cynthia), and her grandchildren Sophie, Jacob, Sebastian, Siena, Gabriel, and Isabelle.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart RC Church, 66 Shanley St., Kitchener on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10 a.m.
