The last thing Joe said to me was, "Keep fighting, don't give up",words of wisdom from a gentle sweet human being who knew his time was up. It has been a tough, long fight and when I am ready to quit, I can see Joe sitting there at Dr. Hui's, giving me his hand.
I have drawn strength from Joe on numerous occasions. I feel honoured to have met him and I know we will meet again.
God Bless the entire family. Ruth, you are a very special lady, Joe knew that. I pray Joe is still looking out for all of us.

What does a daughter say about her father who she has looked up to, will always look up to but now is no longer with her. Who has to understand that he that this journey was inevitable and that he is at peace now. Yesterday, I lost my hero; the one man who I could always count on, who always supported me and loved me unconditionally. Who no matter how busy he was, would always make time for me and never once made me feel like I was a burden. I was truly blessed to have had him as my father. He was the strongest man I have ever known, not once complaining during his illness. I am so very proud to be his daughter and will forever remember him in my heart, see him every day when I look at my children and miss him with every breath I take. I love you Dad.

Dearest Ruth and family,
I have known your Joe for 26years, and what a pleasure it was. Joe you always looked like a million bucks. Over the years Joe shared with me so many stories of all of you. The pride in which he spoke,summers at the cottage with Michael Patrick, summers at Carriage Hills, the basket ball games,the soccer games the school plays. There wasn't an accomplishment by his children or grandchildren left untold. Joe would take every opportunity to share with anyone at the spa that would listen. Joe was proud of all the people in his life, I received an award several years ago and Joe and Ruth came to support and celebrate with me and my family. His joy for other peoples success was infectious. Ruth, the last time Joe was at the spa for his pedicure he told me what a lucky man he was to have you as his wife. What a strong and wonderful wife he had. You will never be forgotten Joe, but always missed. Rest In Gods arms now my friend.

Ruth, Michael & Mary Lou, we send our love, prayers and grief on the passing of our dear friend, Joe. Over the past 13+ years we experienced so many great times together. Bob was always so happy when he knew you were coming for dinner, because Joe was Annice's favorite to cook for and Bob always knew it was going to be a spectacular spread. Bob loved to make Joe laugh which he did a lot when together, especially while playing euchre.
