Ross was one of the "big brothers" of the neighborhood. John Close and I used to hang around with "little brother" Brian. I remember Paddy and Doc, the hunting beagles kept in a pen in the back yard. I didn't understand at the time why we couldn't play with them but we'd pat them anyway. Ross & his dad would go off hunting so we'd include Brian in terrorizing the neighbourhood! And of course we'd go to the Harmony Lunch even though our folks didn't want us in there because they had the evil pinball machine! We knew Brian all through school but sadly lost touch in aduldhood.
Thinking of Brian in this sad time. I lost my brother too, years ago, and we'll never forget, but always cherish the warm memories.

Ross was a childhood friend. I lived on Ezra Av. in Waterloo. Later (as a teenager) we worked at the B & L IGA store at King & University Ave. We lost touch after that. Our birthdays are only 2 days apart. Sorry to hear of your loss.

I could write a book about the fishing and hunting that Ross and I shared or about the marathon card games Mary Beth and I played with Ross and Judy.
I well recall the year Ross could not get time off work for the fall Moose hunt so only came to Sioux Lookout for the long weekend. He flew into Dryden on Friday and we travelled by boat 80 miles up Lac Seul to the cabin. On Saturday Ross harvested two Moose and on Sunday caught a 7lb Walleye. Monday, back to Dryden for the flight home.
I lived with Ross and his Mother and Dad for 7 years so was very close to his family. Many may not know that Ross was an excellent first baseman and played for the Erb Street Mennonite Church team. So many memories. He was my best friend and I will miss him.
