Obituary of Gordon McQuay
Gordon Donald McQuay, 77, passed away on August 29, 2012
Born to the late Holly and Herbert McQuay in Toronto Ontario, predeceased by two sisters.
Gordon graduated from York Memorial High School (Toronto), and continued his
education at Ryerson University (Chemistry) and The University of
Waterloo (Business).
His career began with Baxter Laboratories and proceeded to move into
the rubber industry with BF Goodrich this led his family to live
in Kitchener, Montreal, Dartmouth and Akron, Ohio over the course of
his career. He had the privilege during this time to work in the
Aerospace Division and development of varying facets of the Space Shuttle.
His career finished in Waterloo, ON, pleased to be near family and friends again.
Everywhere he went, Gordon's passion was people, and they gravitated
towards him. His personality was infectious and you just wanted to be
near him. He loved to recite a never-ending array of jokes which never
ceased to illicit a good laugh from all. His outstanding mechanical ability will be surely missed.
His second home and retreat was a cottage in Muskoka, which brought the family
together every summer.
Gordon's first and only love was his wife of 56 years Diane. They met
when they were 15 and have been inseparable ever since. He is survived
by his wife and three children Greg (Sabrina) of Clarence, New York;
Scott (Donna) of Waterloo Ontario and Heather (Brian) of Calgary, AB and his favorite niece Anne Kauffman. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and his beloved dog, Oliver.
