Obituary of Delphine Martin

Delphine Martin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 5, 2012 at Freeport Hospital. Loving wife of Lloyd for 58 years. Dear mother of Rick and his wife Nancy of Elmira, Roger of Toronto, Brad and his wife Monica of Toronto, Terry and his wife Sally of Belmont, Massachusetts, and Jackie and her husband Allan Giesen of Sherborn, Massachusetts. Special grandmother to Shelley and her husband Ameer Abdulla, Stephanie and her fiancé Brian Rempel, Lloyd and his girlfriend Amanda Pereira, Daniel, Emily and her boyfriend Tom Casey, Taylor, Eli, Evelyn, Penelope and Felix. Cherished sister of Don Horst and his wife Fay Etta of Lansing, Michigan and Elizabeth and her husband Glen Brubacher of Stouffville. Predeceased by her granddaughter Jennifer Martin and her parents Elias and Margaret Horst. Delphine will be remembered for her many contributions of time and talents. She was the first youth conference minister for Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, was the founding Executive Director of Shalom Counselling Services, served for many years on the board of Conrad Grebel University College and the board of Woolwich Counselling Centre. Delphine loved sunshine and water and was most happy when she was able to spend time at the family cottage at Chesley Lake or escape in the winter for a few weeks on the beach of Sanibel Island, Florida. The Martin family will receive friends and relatives at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 9, 2012, 3:00 p.m., at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Road, Waterloo. Interment will follow in the St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery followed by a reception at the church.
