Greatest hockey coach we ever had, and had the biggest positive influence on our lives as young kids growing up in Waterloo. All the Waterloo Cubs from the 1960's will always remember the only person they always called Coach. Wayne and Gary Boyes, 1968-70 Cubs

When I think of Ken……… I think of the times at the rink he would spend hours going over his work schedule to maximize his time off. I think of all the hours he put in trying to come up with winners in the football/ hockey pool. He was pretty good at this. I think of all the time he spent at the trailer up in Sauble Beach playing golf. He counted EVERY stroke. I think of all the jokes he used to tell. Even if I heard them 4 or 5 times they were always funny. I think of him putting his fingers on his forehead trying to remember something that just happened a short time ago. Then he would tell me something I did 20 -30 years ago playing hockey that I completely forgot about. Kenny had an amazing memory for sports stats. I think of the time he coached me when I was 10 years old and how he made me a better hockey player by teaching me things I didn't think I was capable of. I think of his positive attitude at work and when he coached. I think of how he never said a bad word about anyone, with the exception of a poor call by an official. I think of how much he loved his family and how close he was to his sons. I think of the person I want to be. I think of how nothing ever seemed to bother him. He loved life and he loved people. I think of all the people that knew him and will miss him. Finally... when I think of Ken I don't think of saying goodbye. I think of how happy he must be to be with his best friend. IT WAS AN HONOUR TO KNOW BOTH KEN AND CAROLE.

I had the pleasure of working along side of one of the most patient persons I had ever met. Ken had this nack of turning a crises into a [ as Ken would say] piece of cake. Ken was loved by everyone that was in his lfe. It truely was a highlight listening to his fishing stories . I know Ken loved his family with all his heart and soul. When you have worked beside someone for any length of time and can respect the wisdom of that person you become close to that person. I cannot imagine how sad Brad@ Kevin and the rest of the family feel with the loss of Ken@ Carol @ Fitzy, but I send to all of you, my deepest condolances and let you know our thoughts and prayers will be with you all.

Back in the 8o's, I was a student at University of Waterloo and teaching skating for the KW skating club. Kenny was the "Rink guy" that we all got to know. Even though "Home" for me was at least an hour away Kenny always made time to chat. Many times he had so many jokes to share and many times we had great laughs! Many times even if I didn't get the punch line, we still had many laughs! Kenny had a huge heart and a great love for his family. We heard stories about his boys and what was happening in their hockey life and family life! Many times Kenny would share stories about his lovely wife, Carole and finally we met her at the cottage. A few years went by and I also got to meet Brad while teaching in Elmira and then finally Kevin when our son played high school hockey for him. Kenny was no longer "The Rink guy!" as he and Carole would come to watch our son's hockey games while Kevin coached. They hold a special place in our hearts! How true is it that when you have great parents "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!" We are very surprised and saddened to hear that Kenny has passed.
Back in the day, Kenny was the one that made me feel at home when I spend time with him! Kenny is so loved by many and knowing how much he loved his soul mate, Carole! Welcome home Kenny! As for the Hergott family, our hearts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time! We are here for you and share in your loss! Hugs,Suzy (Vansevenant)-Petrosino/John, Cody, Rebecca and Hannah
