Obituary of Mary Carol Savage
Died in great comfort and peace at Carleton Lodge in Ottawa, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in her 85th year (nee Jamael). Beloved mother of Karen and her husband Gary Brawley of Ottawa, Barbara and her husband Calvin Shaver of Petersburg, Paul of Ottawa, and Mark and his wife Kathleen Phelan-Savage of St. Catharines. Cherished grandmother of Julia, Heather, and Colleen Shaver; John, Mark, Alexander, and Moragh Brawley; Katherine, Meaghan and Thomas Savage; and Curtis Savage. Dear great-grandmother of Natalie Shaver. Carol is also survived by her sisters Joan Morrison and Mabel Daismont. Carol was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Firth Savage, her parents John and Dolena Jamael, and her sister Rita Jamael.
Carol loved to sing, dance, perform yoga and power walk (it was challenging to keep up with her). She was also a woman of faith, and a long time member of St. Francis parish in Kitchener. She raised her four children after the sudden and early death of her beloved husband Tom. She found great fulfillment in her work as a chaplain at St. Mary's Hospital (Kitchener) Pastoral Care department, and helped many people, both patients and their families.
The family will receive their friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 1:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 49 Blueridge Avenue, Kitchener on Monday, January 14 at 10:00 am with Rev. Joseph de Viveiros, C.R. as celebrant. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Carleton Lodge (Goulbourn Unit), Ottawa, for their loving care of Carol for the last 2 ½ years.
