Don Townson
March 16, 1918 to February 15, 2013
To describe Dad's life in a few short words is almost an impossible feat. What he did is less important than who he was. Who he was can best be described by what he loved most.
Dad loved:
• babies and children almost more than anything else in his life - and he never lost his sense of play
• his wife who he adored even more now than the day they married
• cribbage - especially with his best friend Eric and brother-in-law Sid
• his country - he served 3 ½ years overseas in World War II
• helping people - through his work in sales, community, and finally his business in income tax - he never said "no" to anybody, anytime
• fixing things - precise wiring, electronics, appliance and T.V. repair - there was almost nothing he couldn't fix (or at least attempt to fix)
• theatre and music - from attending Boston Pops and musical theatre to listening to Big Band and Classical music
• watching the Blue Jays and cheering on his team
• his pets - from budgies to his beloved black toy poodle, Candy
These are only a few of the things that define my Dad. He had strong moral principles and profoundly believed in honouring his commitments. His sense of humour even in the face of Alzheimer's and especially his love of family is what made him such an amazing man. We will always remember.
Love you forever, Kerry Joy

Don and Joyce were my second parents with Kerry my "lil sister" since 1968 (45 years). We shared many wonderful moments together during those years which began at McMaster University. Don would always welcome me with a smile into his home whether in Hamilton or Waterloo, and since I always had such a huge appetite, he would call me "Mona the Moocher". I will miss you Don. Love Mona

Thank you "adopted" Grandpa T for all the happy memories you have given us. We will miss your smiles and hugs! Thank you also for giving four years of your life in service to your country. Our children enjoy freedom today because of that sacrifice. You have earned your rest, but, I suspect that you are dancing, entertaining children or smiling at pretty ladies.!
