I can remember like it was yesterday when you moved into your current home. Dimitri was so excited to show us all around, especially his room. Olivia followed him in and he immediately ran over to his Angry Bird and said to Olivia, 'This is Angry Bird!' pushing it towards her 'You can't play with him! Come see my bed...' This was okay as Olivia was more interested in his Cars.
I remember laughing so hard, he was such a sweet little boy and will be missed by all.

On reading Dimitri's obituary, I realized that he was related rather distantly to me. I wanted you to know that even distantly, family does care. Dimitri's great grandmother, Janet Buder was my father, Barry Wenger's cousin. As children I met Dimitri's grandfather, Jamie, when they visited in Wingham. Ruby and Fox were both lucky enough to be in a class with Dimitri and I was lucky enough to get to know him when I was volunteering in their classes. Dimitri once told me that he was helping Ruby be a better friend and she always had a big smile on her face whenever she spoke about him. His bright smile and caring heart will be missed. While we have heard about your lovely Dimitri on a daily basis over the year there is one particular story that stands out in my mind.
It was well known that Dimitri and our daughter Dylan were inseparable and the best of friends. Dylan was smitten with him from the first day of school. One day during nutrition break, Dylan (in the same kindergarten class at ESPS) fell on the playground. Dimitri was so very concerned about her that he brought her in to the school office to have someone look her over. While holding her hand he very seriously told the secretary this is Dylan, the girl I'm going to marry, and she fell and hurt herself. The office staff thought this was the absolute sweetest thing they'd ever seen and so did we when we heard the story both from Dylan that evening and from the staff later. He obviously had a very kind heart and a gentleness that was infectious and impossible not to love. We thank you for sharing him with our daughter, he made a huge impact in her life this year. At almost 5 years old she's convinced she'll never find another boy who will make as good of a husband as Dimitri would have. He will forever have a special place in her heart. XO

We met Dimitri through our son Michael, who is in Mrs. Soehners class at school. Although we only knew him a short while, we had a lovely time with him at the class trip to the splash pad last year, when he and Michael were paired together and I got to watch them for the afternoon together. He was a good friend to Michael, who will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to you at this terrible time, but our good memories of Dimitri will endure.
