Dear Patricia; I feel extremely fortunate that David was at WLU when I came to direct the operas. What a gentleman - kind and generous, with a laser-beam intelligence, always an extremely positive attitude. An extraordinary life, to be sure. My deepest condolences to the Falk family, and to all those who knew him, especially those who, like myself, studied voice with him. He was/is one of my heroes and his beautiful influence on my daily life (every time I sing or teach singing he is present) is a testament to his impact. I love you David. Glad you are at peace and your qi is flowing through everything now.

David came into my classes for a wonderful too short while. He was warm and caring, curious and insightful...and always had that wonderful smile. The love of his family and friends showed in all the many details of his care and his great sense of humour. Patricia, you and David came into my life at FH and never left my thoughts or prayers. There was a strength and purpose in living and life and love in your being and relationship. I will always remember you both.

David was such a wonderful teacher and I will never forget him! He was a kind man and really cared for his students. He taught me so much about my voice and always believed in me.He taught pedagogy like no other and he was my mentor when I started teaching. I wouldn't have become a voice teacher if it wasn't for David. I pray for his family at this difficult time and I hope his family finds comfort in knowing how many lives he has touched. I can hear him singing with the angels!

Two things stand out in my memories of David. One was his genuine interest in every member of his extended family. As long as he was able, it was the first focus of meeting someone he hadn't seen for a while. The second beautiful memory combined that love of family with love of food. It was such a joy to make vereniky for the numerous Mennofeasts we shared over the last 15 years because David so enthusiastically devoured them! Even at the last one, last November, when his speaking voice made it difficult to understand him he led singing the blessing with his much stronger singing voice. Needing some assistance with eating seemed in no way to diminish his appetite for "soul food". I will miss you, David!

During this difficult time I would like to extend my most heartfelt sympathies. I want you to know that David had a profound impact on my life. What a gentleman!With his guidance, patience, and encouragement, he set me up for a wonderful career as a singer/actor. About 8-9 years ago,David came to see me perform in Guelph with Pat and Joe, and he told me I would make a good music teacher some day and that I should pursue that. I'm now in my 6th year teaching music at an elementary school. When I studied with David at Laurier(1984-89),I had gone back to school full-time. It wasn't easy with 2 daughters at home and my wife who worked full-time. David spent a lot of time talking to me and guiding me --- nuturing me along the way. That's what I'll remember the most about David. He always had time for me. He would stress the importance of family. I remember once I was having a particular rough patch, trying to juggle family responsibilites with school, and David said to me,"Bob, you have to love yourself first!" Love yourself, be kind to yourself, and then you can love others. I want you to know how much he loved all of you. He spoke of you all very much. I loved hearing David talk about his family. Very often, we would talk about our mutual love of dogs. I always loved the yearly post opera performances at Pat and David's home. Oh, how I loved those beautiful Airedales. In fact,I loved them so much that my wife and I have one! Theodore is now 3 years old.I think of David often whenever I'm walking Theo. I will never forget David and feel very blessed that he was in my life. What a wonderful, warm, lovely man with an incredible soul! Love to you all!
