My sincere condolences to you Gerry, and the entire family. I would have loved to have been with you to celebrate Evy's life, but it was not possible to come. What a privilege to have know this amazing and unique lady! Our family's yearly visits to Winnipeg (to visit the cousins) were a highlight of my childhood, and I always looked forward with great anticipation to spending time with Evy. I wondered, "What crazy and absurd adventures would she engage me in this year?!" I loved spending time with her, and was always encouraged by her spark and love for life. Evy was an inspiration to so many. As her cousin, I had the privilege of sharing many fun family memories with her; she was full of life and sometimes bigger than life. She left an indelible imprint on me and I will always remember her remarkable spirit and zest for life. We are fortunate to have had her. We mourn with Gerry, the kids, and the rest of her family.

Our thoughts and prayers and deepest condolences are with everyone today. Evy was my dear cousin and remained a friend despite the miles between us in our adult years. I felt privileged and honored to pray with and for Evy and to have several meaningful and deep talks with her through the years of her illness. We will always count it a privilege to have known Evy, even though most of our friendship was through prayers and phone calls from a distance. Evy’s illness kept her and the family from making the planned trip to Senegal several times but we always appreciated the warm welcome from you when we were back in Waterloo. We will cherish the memories of Evy’s spark and her desire to follow God wholeheartedly. Evy had a way of bringing people together in unexpected ways. Her energetic and fanciful nature turned every day occurences into adventures. Stories and incredible adventures just seemed to evolve around her.
We know that her family and her faith were of most importance to her....and all the friendships she made and nurtured carefully through her life. Her humour, love of music, travel, adventure and film were defining elements of her life.
My memories of Evy will always be entertwined with laughter, caring, and absurd adventures in a variety of places. She was strong and funny and ever so loving of the breadth and diversity of humanity.
I feel fortunate to have known her for most of my life, and her determination, courage, and grace will continue to be an inspiration for me.
