It was so great running into you today at Walmart Denise! I had been thinking a lot about you since July and I just knew we would run into each other or I would contact you to get together.
It was a very special moment on July 27th, 2015 when I had a reading from a medium and she indicated that Austin's friend (Ian) was in heaven with him too. By her description, I new immediately it was Ian. I hope this gives you a little bit of peace knowing that our boys are together in spirit, and continue to grow, learn and have fun with us!!

I light this candle with love of your son/brother,grandchild. It was first found through my news feeds on face book: an article stating that a young teenager, who was unknown to me, from Waterloo, Ontario had gone missing. I posted this article on my face book. Yesterday, I realized there was no follow up on the first article stating Iian had gone missing...so I wondered what the outcome was and I read yesterday the news. As well my condolences go out to your family and Iian in Heaven Himself.

Words cannot express how devastated I am to hear of Iain's passing. My heart aches for his whole family. I cannot begin to imagine your pain. I was always intrigued and amazed by Iain's artistic talents and his great sense of humour. I was truly honoured to present him with our Senior Art Award. When I see a beautiful sunset, I will know that it is Iain at work. Paint the Heavens, Iain. Rest easy my creative and inspiring student.

Denise, Dwayne, and Mitchell, We are deeply sorry to hear of Iain's passing. He was such a creative, witty and compassionate young man and his passing is a tragic loss to all. You are such a caring, supportive, proactive, close family; we are certain that he knew he was loved, appreciated, treasured, and supported. We can only imagine the pain that you feel, and hopefully you will take some solace in knowing his suffering is over and he will finally be at peace. Please accept our deepest sympathy and friendship and know that we are grieving with you and that you are in our hearts and prayers. With heart-felt love and respect, Heather Emerson and Mike Hart

Uncle Brent posted a condolence
Tuesday, August 6, 2013
Uncle Brent's Eulogy: A very wise man shared a bit of his wisdom with me a long time ago following the death of a dear friend. The wise man said I should focus on his life, his accomplishments and the good times we shared and not on his passing. He encouraged me to remember my departed friend at his best. In the case of our Iain his best comes to mind easily. Iain at an early age showed kindness and compassion beyond his years to those in need and demonstrated it with a gift or a kind word. He truly loved and was loved by his family and friends. You could see it when he spent time with his Dad and Mom, his brother Mitchell, his Grandparents, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles. That's when Iain was at his best. Iain loved and was loved in return by the animals that had the good fortune of crossing his path. They were drawn to him like steel to a magnet. You see, Iain was a cat whisperer. He could walk into a room a stranger and before long would make a friend for life. Cats are good judges of character. They would curl up on his lap feeling safe and sound knowing they were in good hands. Iain's only wish and reward was their happiness. Both Iain and his new friend were at their best. Iain could without effort dispense a very dry wit. He had a gift few possess, his thought process sharp as a straight razor, his delivery impeccable and more often than not, spot on. For those that witnessed and shared his good humour, there wasn't so much as a shadow of a doubt that Iain was at his best. As many of you already know Iain was a gifted artist. Awhile ago at a Christmas get together at Dwayne and Denise's we were invited to decorate the gingerbread cookies that Denise had so thoughtfully made. While the rest of us struggled to make rather wonky looking Santas and snowmen, Iain in record time, seemingly without effort, produced Christmas cookies fit for the cover of a Martha Stewart cookbook. He had his Father's eye for art and form. Not long ago we got together and visited the ROM in Toronto. Iain said to me he would like to follow in his Dad's footsteps and become a graphic artist, my thought what a fine one he would be. When Iain spoke of or created art, Iain was at his best. Iain had a passion not only for cycling but for restoration. My Father reminded me yesterday that Iain peddled 22 miles when he was about 12. When Iain peddled down the road, Iain was at his best. I know there are many here today who believe that when we leave this earth it's not an end but a new beginning. The troubles we had here on the planet will quickly fade and become a distant memory, we will be restored and forever after exist content and at peace. Iain, kind lad that he was I'm sure will be waiting to help us all through, directing us to orientation, helping us get settled in and giving us tips like what side of the road we're to drive on. I'm sure it will be a pleasure for all of us to shake his hand and see him once again because I know today Iain is at his very best. Love from Uncle Brent.

Dwayne, Denise & Mitchell - I am so shocked and saddened to hear this news. I can't imagine what you must be going through and I will pray for great strength for you as you go through the next few days, weeks and months. I am sorry I did not hear soon enough to be with you at the funeral this past weekend. Iain had so much love and support from his family and I'm sure he feels that now as he rests in a place of great peace. love Carol

Mitch Jennings posted a condolence

What has been the most challenging and gut wrenching experiences of my life has finally came to a conclusion. My brother Iain was found dead yesterday, and I know now that he is finally at peace with the demons that haunted him for most of his all too short life. Make no mistake about it, my brother died of a mental illness, something that like cancer was not caused or brought on by anybody or anything. Sadly, as much as we, and the countless others who tried to help him in his lifetime, there was absolutely nothing that anyone could have done to have prevented this... all we can do now is learn from it. I encourage all of you to learn about mental illness, or volunteer your time to help those who suffer from it. Thank you to all of those family members, friends, police officers, social workers, and members of the community who helped our family out while we were without answers, your support made this journey so much more bearable and you have no idea how much we appreciate it. To all of those who shared my status, handed out missing posters, or even just kept an eye out, I wish that the resolution to this was the one we were all hoping for, but it's not and that's life. Somehow I know that Iain is more at peace than he ever could have been on his time here on earth. I have learned so much from Iain while he was with us, and I promise to dedicate the rest of my life helping and serving those who suffer from mental illness and the families and friends that stand by them, either as a police officer or in any way that I can. It's safe to say that this experience has changed my life in a monumental way, but I know that I WILL get through this and emerge a better and stronger person than I ever was before. He may have had his challenges and rough edges, but I am blessed to have had him for the time that I did, and I could not imagine life growing up any other way. I will always love my brother, and never forget the good times that we shared. Rest In Peace Iain, see you on the other side
