Jello. When I first met Ann it was Sept 11th 2013 on the 6th floor when we were brought together to share a room. We bonded over jello and our desire to have more than just 4 flavors. I still have the photo of Ann with the special layered jello the Chef in the hospital prepared for her. That was a happy moment when there were tears of laughter. Ann was special, and she made everyone around her feel that way too. I left the hospital and never forgot Ann, our talks, sharing magazines, love of dogs, our desire to have some solid foods and looking after one another. I prayed that she would be able to be at the wedding Sept 21st. My heart goes out to each of you....especially Jenny and Carl & her golden retriever (Bailey?)
I didn't know her for long and that is what made her special...because you didn't need to know her for long. She was just that warm hearted, she made you feel like you have know her for years.

Met Ann many years ago when she started with VON. I had been working in Baden and New Hamburg area and was to orient Ann. We spent a lot of hours talking and comparing notes to our lives. We did a lot of that over the 20 years and on to CCAC where we both worked as well. You didn't ask Ann what she thought unless you wanted an honest answer. She was compassionate, irreverent, honest, giving and loved her family!! Yes, we all heard about you Jenny and Billy over the years. You grew up with us as well. I moved to Michigan 5 yrs ago and she and Trudy Ungar Mara dropped in for a visit this past summer. She had not been diagnosed yet but not feeling well from all her past illnesses. We had lunch, gossiped and shared what was going on with us. She had not bought her Mother of the Groom yet for Billy's fall wedding and as usual, did not seemed stressed about it. She knew it would all get done. We shared our big "50" with other members of our "Ya Ya" group and wished I had been around to celebrate our big 60 last year. You have no idea how much you are loved and missed until you are gone. I really hope Ann you know how many people really cared about you. Warts and all. I will always remember you with a glass of wine in your hand, flushed cheeks ( we ALL had hot flashes) and laughing. Rest now and enjoy what eternal peace awaits us all. Love Trudy

Ann was a wonderful, loving and supportive mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always went the extra mile to make sure that her family and all of their friends felt at home in her home to the point that some moved in for weeks. Her home in Waterloo was often filled with Jenny, Billy and numerous friends. She recently commented that you should never doubt your skills as a parent until you see your children as adults and parents themselves. She was very proud of Jenny and Billy and how they have grown into wonderful and caring adults. In the past two years she finally found the happiness she sought in her new home with Carl. Although her last few months were bad her last few years were good ones.
Ann loved to travel, especially to places where she could walk on the beach. Hopefully there is a beach where she is now and a dog to play fetch.
Ann has been a very good friend for 40 years and she will be missed by her family and all of us who were lucky enough to call her a friend.

Ann, you are one of the reasons I am a good person today. You'll always hold a special place in my heart. Jenny and Billy, thank you for being my surrogate siblings.
