I knew Mr. Carter through St. Boniface Church in Maryhill and as my Grade 10 math teacher at St. Mary's High School in Kitchener. I was having great difficulty with the course and it was Larry's determination that I was not going to fail that pulled me through and I ended up with a score of 92% in the final exam. I've always remembered him fondly for that devotion to his career. Rest in peace dear teacher. Thank you for your dedication.

All my love to everyone back home.
I was extremely sad to hear of Larry's passing as I was looking forward to visiting with him at the end of October. We last were able to Skype when he visited my parents in the summer. He asked me about my work and I provided some detail and images and diagrams and we had a lovely chat.
I realize now that he had an immense skill for listening. I mean really listening with delicacy, empathy and understanding. Many might attribute this to be a bi-product of a fruitful career in education, but the subtleties run deeper than that and I can only feel that this was a part of his true nature.
But, most significantly for me was to be inspired after our last chat, inspired at his continued strength and positivity. He mentioned several travels and wonders he still wished to visit and they were anything but modest. This combination of sage tranquility in conversation and sustained ambition for life left me imbued with a deep reverence and for that I am grateful.
Larry will be sorely missed by many, and in these days I have all of you in my thoughts.
Andrew

Gloria (Penny)our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of our brother Larry. The last time we were together as a family was May 2012 when we were home. We celebrated your birthday and Larry and Dorothy's 45th wedding anniversary. Many things were talked about that day. Many memories rekindled. May those memories continue to brighten your day and lighten your heart.

Larry was the poet in the family. He had the unique ability to rhyme words,paint pictures, and create memories . I remember especially the passionate words he spoke about mom as he snuffed out the candle at her funeral service. The following words are by an unknown author but they could have been written by Larry. May the bring some peace and comfort to Kelley, Krista and Bryce.
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all...
I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Ah yes, these things, I too, shall miss.
My life's been full, I've savored much;
Good times, good friends, a loved-one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief -
Don't shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.
Kelley, Krista and Bryce, It has been a rough year. Only days away from the anniversary of your mother's passing. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead. May you continue to feel the support, strength and love of God's hands as he embraces you and welcome's Larry into His home.

Larry was always so cheerful and optimistic even when he was facing his final illness. He was truly an example of grace and courage. I will miss his humour most of all. Knowing him and Dorothy was a true blessing.

Kelley, Krista, Bryce and families;
Uncle Larry impacted so many of us with his positive outlook and gentle spirit. He had a great sense of humor and visibly embraced life. Know that your grief is shared by all of us, and together we will reminisce and keep the memories of both your Mom and Dad alive for years to come!
Remember your Dad laughing (at us!) as we tried to learn the line dance for Kelley and Shane's wedding on the side lawn of the home in MH? What about the countless hours spent in a car with him as he drove us to baseball games in greater rural Ontario? We have many shared meals, celebrations and experiences to tell your children about to carry forward the memory of both of your parents. Know you are in our thoughts.

We are halfway around the world but our thoughts are back in Waterloo with the Carter family. We remember with fondness the many vacations we went on with Larry and Dorothy! As well all the card games and other activities; mutual god parenting and more. The final car ride (Marianne) had with Larry last Tuesday to see the autumn colours was in Larry's own words, " yet another memory"! And yes, we finished the trip with a DQ sundae ( with peanuts on top!)
Rest in peace, Larry! Give our love to Dorothy - we miss her very much too!

Kelley, Krista, Bryce and families; Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. We have so many fond memories of Uncle Larry and the positive impact he had on every single one of us in the Kraemer family. His infectious laugh would light up the room and his kind and caring nature was evident in everything he did. We remember the night both your parents spent at our condo in Toronto; we shared such a lovely meal and through the night many many stories. Please know you are in our prayers.

Lots of great memories......from Larry's white convertible which could not be used for their "snowy" May wedding to the many DQ sundaes we shared the last 2 years! Even when things couldn't be worse, his incredible optimism will always be remembered!
