Obituary of Arnulf Remole
REMOLE, Arnulf
Of Waterloo, passed away at the Westmount LTC Residence, Kitchener on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in his 86th year.
Arnulf was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Joan were married for 46 years until her passing in 2011. Dearest father of Paul Remole (Connie). Predeceased by his parents Halvard and Theodora Rimolshagen and brother Tor Halvard Rimolshagen.
Arnulf was born in Melhus, Norway on July 1, 1928 and moved to Canada when he was a young adult. From his early childhood he loved art and began drawing and painting on the small woodlands farm where he grew up. His favourite thing to draw was the trolls and elves of Norwegian folklore. He has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba. Always diverse in his interests and talents he studied Optometry and obtained his doctorate from the Ontario College of Optometry, A Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Visual Science, both from Indiana University. He spent most of his working life as a professor of optometry and researcher in vision science at the University of Waterloo where he retired as Professor Emeritus.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Arnulf with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 6-9 pm. A graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto on Thursday, January 16 at 1:00 pm.
