He was my first teacher when I moved from Montreal to Cambridge. That was 1981, grade 7.
What an amazing personality Mr. Allison possessed. Without a doubt he was my favourite teacher...ever. He knew how to talk and relate to anyone/everyone.
I remember him telling me how much he loved his weekends. He rubbed his belly and said with that infectious smile - "I'm in heaven when my wife makes me spaghetti and I have a beer or two." He'd hit the couch and that was it. Odd that I thought that story was so funny. It was great that he was human and had no issue showing that to his students. It's what made him a great male role model for kids that age and it's part of what made him extremely lovable.
I know you will have lots of people missing you Chuck. I am one of them.

I loved having Mr Allison as my grade 7 teacher. I know it takes a very special person to handle those "pre-teen" boys and girls! Mr Allison made us laugh, smile, feel confident, and his incredible sense of humour was always appreciated. I remember Mr Allison was never afraid to laugh at himself, and would tell us stories of his previous job as Doobie the Bee on Romper Room! LOL It was very coincidental that Chuck"s passing happenned when it did as I had just recently met with my best friend from those years(Shellie Maidment) and we talked about Chuck and wondered how he was. Cheers to Mr Allison-a fantastic teacher who made a difference! Affectionately, Stephanie Pounds (Benninger)

I was so sad to hear that Mr. Allison had passed away. There are quite a few of us that graduated in 1982 from St Andrews that were looking forward to possibly seeing him at the 100th Anniversary for St Andrews School this year.
He was a fun teacher, but kept everyone in line...that shows how much every one respected him.
I still remember when one of the girls in our class was talking out loud in class, so Mr. Allison had her go up to the front of the class and sing songs for us, as we did our work. She was a good sport about it, and sang some pre school songs. (I Can Sing A Rainbow, was one of her hits that day). It was the fun things like that that he did as a teacher, that made going to school fun.
I have thought of him often over the years.

Rest in peace Chuck. May your tee ball be long and straight and may all of your putts go in the hole on that great golf course in Heaven. Chuck was the "commissioner" for our "Old Farts" group at Galt Country Club for many years. He brought us many smiles with his anecdotes about golf and baseball. A great student of the game, and a lifelong teacher, we always had a golf trivia quiz which he created at our year end banquet....with prizes for the winner. We always enjoyed Chuck's sense of humour and his ability to laugh at life, his golf buddies and himself. We'll miss you buddy!

I remember Chuck well from St. Andrews where I taught as a supply teacher. What I remember best about him was his sense of humour and his stories about Vegas. He had a wonderful connection with his students and never took himself too seriously. Rest in peace, Chuck.

C.A. Ol' buddy. You gave me a nickname that's lasted me more than half my life and a confidence in myself that will last forever. I'll never get to sit and have the chat with you I'd hoped, at least for now. Just know that your impact here resonates through generations and I'll keep it in my heart forever. Thanks for the best of times. D.L.

Mr. A. left a long-standing legacy, and he will be missed as one of my all-time favourite teachers. I remember him fondly as my homeroom teacher and math teacher, and he instilled in me a love of teaching and good humour. To this day, every time I have a Baby Ruth, (living in the USA, it's now my favourite chocolate bar too), I think of him with a smile. One of many funny experiences in his classroom, I remember him making any of us traveling bring him home one! Here's to you, you were a great person, and you left quite a wonderful impression on many of us that were so impressionable at the time. You will be missed, but definitely not forgotten.

To the family,
I was so sorry to hear about Chuck's passing. I never called him "Chuck" of coures, but rather "Mr. Alison" as he was my seventh grade teacher at St. Andrews Senior Public School! I always remembered him fondly as a teacher who cared about his students and had a terrific sense of humour. He was calm, friendly, and all of the kids respected him so very much - it didn't take much for Mr. Alison to keep those naughty boys in line way back then! We remember that he was the bee on "The Romper Room" children's television show, and although we would laugh with our seventh grade disdain for children's shows, we actually thought it was pretty neat being taught by a celebrity! He was a terrific educator with a genuine concern for children.
As you mourn the loss of Mr. Alison, I hope you find comfort in your happy memories, and in the knowledge that he was very important in the lives of his many students.
Warmest regards,
Karen

Chuck (Mr. Allison to me) was one of the greatest teachers that I ever had. He was my grade 5 teacher (I was 10 years old) at Howard Robertson and one of my favourites. I clearly remember many days in class with Mr. Allison, but one in particular. Our class wrote a test, I finished, and he marked my test. The rest of the class was still writing the test. He asked me to come to the back of the class where his desk was. He pulled out a 5 iron from the back closet and asked me to hold the club and act like I was addressing the ball. He wanted to see how I gripped the club. I just started playing golf the summer before I got him for a teacher. That showed me his love of his students and golf. Great, great guy. He had a very unique teaching style that made learning fun. He will be truly missed.

I was shocked to hear that Charles has left us. Charles and I became friends around 1950. Our parents where best friends, Chuck and I went all through grade school together in Thamesville and later we met at St. Jerome's and attended Grade 13 together. We touched base a few times since then however I know we both thought of each other from time to time. Betty we have never met but always remember memories are the legacy of love. May happy memories carry you and your family through this sorrowful time. Diane & Larry Ward, Ottawa
