Obituary of William McCarty
Passed away suddenly at London Health Sciences Center on Monday August 4, 2014 at the age of 78 years old. Loving husband of Shirley McCarty (nee) Worthington. Dear father of Tamara McCarty and her husband Aaron Fortenbacher of Elora, Shaun McCarty and his wife Cheryl Doak-McCarty of Goderich. Stepfather of Cheryl MacDonald and her husband Greg of Michigan, Bill VanDusen and his wife Danni of Utah, and Jim VanDusen and his wife Veronica of Texas. Loving grandfather of Olivia and Rebecca Fortenbacher, Nathan & Joshua MacDonald, Heather and Alyssa VanDusen. Remembered by his siblings Jack McCarty (Kathy), Mary Lalonde, Leonard McCarty, Ann Hammond. William will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Thelma McCarty, his parents William and Julia McCarty and his sister Doreen.
William was a beloved husband, father and grandfather whose passion in life revolved around family and church. He was a dedicated and longtime member of the Community of Christ Church and a former clergy. He was also a past board member of the Habitat for Humanity. His ministry touched many lives and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Friends are invited to share their memories of William with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday August 8, 2014 at 1 pm with Elder Ruth Black and Elder David Snell officiating. Reception to follow in the fireside room of the funeral home. A private family interment of cremated remains will be held at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
