Obituary of Donald Mackay

Died December 11, 2014, after a long illness. Don is survived by his spouse, Isobel, sons Iain (Jill Oxner) and Duncan (Almendra Vega Duarte), grandchildren Ishbel, Calum and Maggie, and siblings Catriona and Kenneth (Freda) Mackay. Born in 1932 on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, and educated at the University of Aberdeen and Oxford. Don emigrated to Canada in1957 and became one of the first Faculty members of the fledgling University of Waterloo. He retired from the Department of Chemistry in 1996. Don was a keen fisherman and a fan of local hockey. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to celebrate Donald's life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday December 19, 2014 at 12pm..
