When you go from highschool through to retirement with somone you tend to become family. Clyde was my friend, my confidant, my coworker, but above all else - a brother to me. Like all siblings however we had our squabbles and some were real doozies. More often than not they involved chauvanism and 99.9% happened in the middle of the office much to the entertainment of our cohorts. We started working together in 1973. Regional Government was brand new then and had just moved in to the Marsland Center in Waterloo. Unfortunately there was no cafeteria so to keep staff in the building a large coffee maker was brought in. Everyone took turns making the morning coffee. Well....everyone except Clyde Gilmour - who adamantly refused. "That's womans work. Clyde don't drink coffee. Clyde don't make coffee. That's it. That's all!" I argued with him till I was blue in the face then finally conceeded just to keep the peace. In 47 years its the only arguement between the two of us he ever won. Well sort of won. You see once he married the love of his life Barbara and they had their precious daughter Carrie, Clyde decided to be the best husband and father possibe. To that end not only did he become chief cook and bottle washer (some would say to obsession) but baked bread, cannd tomatoes and made his famous Nuts a Bolts every Christmas. Go figure.

with heavy hearts we extend our condulences on hearing of Clyde's passing. Clyde took me in as a roommate when I first moved out of the family home so I can attest to his cleanliness which developed into a habit for me today. It is times like these Barb that our life-saving skills and good memories will get us by. Wishing you and Carrie the strength and support for the days ahead. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Barb, I am truly saddened to hear of Clyde's passing, having lost my life partner of 37 years 3 years back I can tell you that I understand how you feel. I want you to know that working with Clyde at Waterloo Region until 1983, he was my all time favourite work buddy! I recall many many fun times we all had during those years. I hope to have an opportunity to share some of those stories with you at a memorial service you may plan. Love and condolences, Wendy Soden

Dearest Barb and Carrie Knowing that Clyde was in decline I dreaded opening the paper each morning. A beautiful tribute was found yesterday Barb that only a loving and devoted partner in life could have written. Clyde and I were in Mr. Freund's concert band at GRCI and crossed paths occasionally over the years as you and I have. I remember the conversation we had when I made the connection between you two. No one knew what would happen after that Region of Waterloo union meeting and your post meeting drink eh? God bless you both in this time of grieving and transition in your lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I was both shocked and saddened to hear of Clyde's passing. I first met him in 1972 when he was involved with New Orleans'Pizza and through his friends from GRCI. and WLU. If anyone can be described as a "Renaissance Man",it was Clyde. My deepest sympathies to the Gilmour family.

May time's passing bring you comfort and help you to find peace to ease your sadness. To let you know that thoughts of deepest sympathy are with you. We will miss Clyde's perceptive responses to issues, both political and local. We have lost yet another of the few observant people who share this planet.

I have fond memories of my friendship with Clyde. He was my neighbour, my friend, a fellow musician, and had a heart so big that it filled the community with caring. He was always interested in you and your life. He always had a wide 'cheshire' smile and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rock On' my friend.

Sending love, light & healing energy to all. Will always remember Clyde's smile and wonderful sense of humour. He shared so much wisdom & great advice when I was a young caseworker. Am sure Clyde will continue to move to the beat of his own drum even on "the other side." Rock on Clyde xo
